INTERN ABROAD

While working as an Intern for BMW, I lived in Munich, Germany for 6 months.

Although I went in with German fluency and lifelong experience with the culture, this immersive experience was transformative.

I am incredibly grateful for the places I travelled to, people I met, and memories I made along the way.

Embarking on this journey independently was terrifying, but challenged my growth in ways I couldn’t have imagined.

INTRO-LEVEL COMPUTER SCIENCE TA

2021-2022 (2 semesters) - Intro to Java

2023-2024 (2 semesters) - Intro to Python

Alongside my coursework in Computer Science, I’ve spent 4 semesters as a Teaching Assistant for intro-level CSC courses. I’ve found that teaching is unbelievably rewarding - it has been a privilege to help students truly understand the concepts they’re learning. Additionally, I’ve noticed that my own understanding of these topics grows to much deeper levels when asked to explain the details of a concept, which has helped me profoundly in my own studies.

Teaching has challenged me in many ways: explaining how I think about various concepts in a way that will make sense to students, time management, creating an environment in which students are excited to learn, and ensuring that no student gets left behind.

Additional to running a weekly 2.5 hour lab session, during my 4th semester as a TA I was promoted to Lead TA. The responsibilities for this role include managing 120+ students’ assignments and grades, running a lab, and administering office hours. On a weekly basis I code auto-grading scripts, write rubrics, and oversee the progress of our graders.

Managing this alongside my own coursework has been challenging, but has allowed me to grow in many ways. The satisfaction of contributing to the educational journey of others reinforces my belief in the transformative power of sharing knowledge and inspires my ongoing commitment to both personal and collective learning.

STUDY TRACKER

After learning more about Java in the Software Development Fundamentals during my Sophomore year, I was motivated to put my new knowledge to use.

I designed a Study Tracker application that allows students to track their study time for each of their courses, over multiple semesters. As a student, it’s valuable to have a form of insight into which courses one is putting more time into - StudyTracker provides an easy way to do this.

The program provides data visualization for the distribution of your time into each class, and an overview of how many hours you’ve contributed to a class over a specified time period.

This was my first large independent Computer Science project and exemplifies my initiative.

INTRAMURAL BASKETBALL

My friends and I played intramural basketball and won two championships! It only costed me one sprained ankle, but I love my team Bricklayers.
